The Interfaith March for Peace & Justice, a project of the IRTPJ, is a global coalition of interfaith marches.
Our Guiding Principles
1. We believe that all people should be free to practice their faith without fear of discrimination, intimidation, or reprisal.
2. We believe that multiple religions can coexist peacefully and contribute to the common good.
3. We believe that equal justice and equal protection under the law are rights to which all people are entitled.
4. We believe that governments should protect those who are most vulnerable and never fail to seek justice for acts of violence perpetrated against minorities by those who claim superiority or dominance.
Joining us each year for one of the marches near you.
The Interfaith March for Peace & Justice is a family of member marches located around the world, largely autonomous but united by a common theme and cause—promoting religious freedom, peaceful coexistence, collaboration for global and equal justice, and peace-building. Founded in 2017 in Columbus, Ohio, the community rapidly expanded, joined by other marches from around the U.S. and abroad, some of which have been already marching on their own for decades. By 2019, our family included over two dozen member marches around the globe, making the Interfaith March for Peace & Justice the largest coalition of interfaith marches in the world. Having begun its life as a project of SAIL (Safe Alliance of Interfaith Leaders, Columbus, OH), the Interfaith March has now come under the corporate umbrella of the Institute for Religious Tolerance, Peace and Justice (IRTPJ) in order to further the international scope of this project and to better incorporate the growing community of member marches. Almost daily, we are receiving new inquiries from groups around the world, asking to be part of this movement.
This event, by design, is intended to be non-partisan, positive, and unifying. We hope to connect people; we want to find common ground and we want to communicate a message of peace, love, and respect. The Interfaith March for Peace & Justice (IMPJ) is a program of the Institute for Religious Tolerance, Peace and Justice (IRTPJ). We are a positive, nonpartisan event meant to affirm freedom of religion and equal justice for all.
If you are reading this and there is no member march in your region, we ask that you seriously consider being a catalyst yourself and making things happen. It only takes a single person to get things started. From that small beginning, partnerships can be built, plans can be made, and successful events can be organized. Please email us at info@instituteforreligioustolerance.org if you have questions, and thank you to all who might lend a hand in this effort.
